WHEN it comes to decorating your home, it can be hard to know where to start.
Interior trends can go in and out of style so quickly that by the time your new kitchen has been installed, it’s already outdated.
But according to interior designer Anthony Immediato, there are just three things you need to know to never add to your home.
He took to TikTik to reveal trends that are unsuitable for his own home.
While it might be easy to buy your bed frame, wardrobe, chest of drawers, and nightstands from the same store, your bedroom won’t look fancy if you do.
The pro explained, “The first thing I’ve mentioned before and will continue to mention is matching bedroom sets.
“I don’t think they necessarily look bad, it’s a good plan-b but I think it’s best when you find mix and match pieces that are personalized and unique.”
Flags as decor
Ditch the decorative flags, they might be fun if you’re a kid but don’t belong in a stylish home.
“I don’t think flags belong on the wall of your house,” Anthony explained.
It doesn’t matter if it’s the flag or your country, the one you visited 10 years ago or somewhere you’ve never been, those are all big no-no’s.
The pro believes the flags make your home look like a college dorm, which is something no one should be looking for.
If you’re a fan of recycling old furniture, that’s bad news.
Old painted furniture is not a trend Anthony can embrace.
“Last, and perhaps most importantly, there is painted furniture, but especially painted vintage quality wooden furniture.
“Why are you painting this beautiful mid-century walnut credenza…why are you painting it teal?
“Don’t paint it teal,” he joked.
However, not everyone agreed, with one saying: “I disagree with you on the painted furniture, sometimes the pieces are too damaged and there are too many wood.”
