Hot conditions will lead to an increased risk of heat-related illnesses, especially among those who work or entertain outdoors, as well as residents who do not have access to air conditioning.

AccuWeather World Weather Center – July 4, 2022 – AccuWeather meteorologists expect temperatures to soar in the Intermountain West heading into this weekend, with a few places potentially hitting their hottest levels of the year so far.

A move north of jet stream will allow a “heat dome” to build across much of the west and high plains during the latter part of the week. Beneath these heat domes, air sinks, which raises temperatures and generally limits precipitation and cloud cover.

After a generally seasonal first part of the week, high temperatures in the 90s F are expected to rise as far north as Montana by the end of the week, with deserts in the southwest likely to eclipse the 110 mark. degrees Fahrenheit.

“By next weekend, highs could be around 105 in places such as Salt Lake Citywhich is 10-15 degrees above normal for this time of year and would eclipse the hottest day of the year they have had so far which was 102 on June 12,” said AccuWeather senior meteorologist Dan Pydynowski.

Pydynowski added that the city’s daily records from July 8-10 could be in question amid the building’s heat. These records range from 102 to 104.
