Developer Capital&Centric is teaming up with Channel 4 and Remarkable TV for a new primetime interior design competition, with the working title of Design Your Dream.

The series will be filmed at Eyewitness Works, a former cutlery factory in Milton Street – currently being transformed into 97 lofts and townhouses as part of a £21million restoration.

In Design Your Dream, contestants will each be assigned an empty apartment within Eyewitness Works in the heart of Sheffield to showcase their unique design talent.

The new show will be filmed in Sheffield.

Contestants will be judged on their performance in a series of design and skill challenges in the apartment and beyond.

Competitors will compete against each other, whittled down until only one remains. The winner of the competition will become the owner of their own two-bedroom Capital&Centric loft in the historic development in South Yorkshire – one of the biggest prizes on TV.

Adam Higgins, co-founder of Capital&Centric, said: “It’s going to be awesome to see how the designers have given this historic space their creative spin, with the winner finally calling it home. Our Eyewitness Works building in Sheffield is full of original features and once restored will become a true design driven community. “

Restoration of Eyewitness Works and the neighboring Ceylon Works is the first project in Sheffield for Capital&Centric, known for its restorations and the creation of new neighborhoods in Manchester including Crusader Mill, Phoenix and Kampus. The 150-year-old Sheffield icon was once home to Taylor’s Eyewitness Ltd, a Sheffield-based company that supplies cutlery to the nation.

The 8×60 series is produced by Remarkable Factual (part of Banijay UK) with executive producers Joff Wilson and Breid McLoone. The series is commissioned for Channel 4 by Deborah Dunnett, Features and Daytime Editor, and Jo Street, Features and Daytime Manager.

Deborah Dunnett, Editor, Features and Daytime at Channel 4, comments: “Everyone has their own take on what makes a house stand out. This series promises to showcase the creative talents and tastes of UK interior designers – for a truly spectacular price. I look forward to working with Remarkable and am delighted that the bustling city of Sheffield is hosting this innovative competition format.
